Shock over Silencio murder
Police believe de linquents could be responsible for the murder of an Arona businessman in Costa del Silencio.
The Civil Guard has launched a full investigation following the death of Antonio Miguel Rancel Vargas who suffered a brutal beating outside his home. He was taken to hospital but died a few days later of his injuries.
The incident happened at 1.30am on one of the main streets near the residential complex of Albatros. Sr. Vargas, who ran a store in nearby Las Rosas, received numerous kicks and punches which caused him severe injuries. Had he survived, doctors said he would have been seriously impaired. He had two children.
It is understood that nothing was stolen during the attack and it is not known how many people were involved. No theory is being ruled out but police say it could have been local yobs.
